The Ghost Lawyer is a character and running gag played by Dom in No Rolls Barred Plays Blood On The Clocktower. He is the ghost of Dom who has been bitten by a radioactive barrister.

"The defence rests. In peace!"
―Ghost Lawyer (Paralegal Activity)

The story behind the Ghost Lawyer is somewhat hazy, though the central bible of lore is Editor James' "Ghost Lawyer" song:

Dominic Allen was a regular ghost
doomed to roam the Earth forever
But one day he was bitten on his phantom behind
By a radioactive barrister

His brain it grew and his heart did too
He went and passed the spirit bar
He got some new ties pushed his glasses down his eyes
And he bought himself a German car

Now he's a Ghost Lawyer
A lawyer who's a ghost
He's providing legal aid to the ones who need it most
He's a Ghost Lawyer
His trial skills are great
'Cause it's never too late to litigate
No it's never too late to litigate

Luke initially said that the Lawyer was supposed to be the star of a TV show. Dom has claimed that the Lawyer "died 400 years ago", and thus practised medieval law.

Appearances[]

  • The Ghost Lawyer's first appearance was in the aptly named episode Paralegal Activity, when Dan nominated himself and asked Dom to defend him. After forgetting to actually defend him and telling the jury to "follow your heart", he admitted that he was "a ghost", and "not a very good lawyer". Luke said "I would watch Ghost Lawyer", and they joked about him dying 400 years ago and thus only knowing medieval law. He later called for a "point of ghost law". Dan nominated himself again despite not being able to be executed, and the Lawyer kept it short, saying "the defence rests. In peace!" The episode ended with a song from Editor James, detailing further lore.
  • In God Is A Legion, Ben asked Dom whether he was still Ghost Lawyer. He replied "I'm not dead, Ben". Establishing that this was a prequel, Dan said that his name was actually Brian Lawyer, and Dom said he was prone to fatal accidents. When Sully nominated Ben, Dom became angry that Ben was representing himself in court, and had turned down the Ghost Lawyer. However, Tilly had him represent her.
  • In A Magic, Grand Vizier Ghost Lawyer was still not dead (not dead again?) and was in this case Brian Barrister. He needed to consult with Adam the Solicitor on the details of the case for prosecution.
  • In Pure Self-Indulgence, Dom was asked if he'd like Ghost Lawyer to represent him, however Dom said he wasn't dead, referring back to James' song. Ben said this episode was also a prequel.
